Roles in this service make a truly visible difference to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities, by working collaboratively to provide housing and accommodation solutions to reduce and prevent homelessness and rough sleeping in Kingston.
By embarking on or continuing your career in this area, you’ll help people secure and keep accommodation and avert crisis - these really are critical roles that change lives and benefit those most in need in our communities. We provide a range of housing and homelessness prevention support across Kingston, such as housing placement services for vulnerable and older people to support independent living, caretaking and cleaning of Council estates, repairs and maintenance of properties and accommodation. This is an exciting time to join us, we are transforming the service with a focus on building a resilient, efficient and compassionate workforce that prevents homelessness and puts our customers and communities at its heart.

Although desirable, previous experience in this area isn’t essential and we’re looking for innovative and creative people who are passionate about making a positive impact on people’s lives and our communities.
There are many transferable skills that could make you an ideal fit for a role in this area, including excellent communication, administration and organisational skills and experience of collaboration and partnership working.
Some typical roles in this area include the following, which range from entry-level to experienced and management positions:
- Housing Officers - roles are available in a number of teams e.g. Allocations, Compliance, Options, Re-housing, Resettlement, Solutions and Supply - as well as working with landlords in the borough
- Homelessness Prevention Workers
- Cleaners and Caretakers
- Maintenance and Repairs Surveyors
